Black & White Square Reflection

Reflecting on identity is a core element of my work and so mirrors were a fun way to explore another aspect of this idea; and with fired enamel having a naturally glassy finish, this material makes a beautiful surround to a mirror. The piece is sold suspended from a piece of jute twine.

This unique, one-of-a-kind framed mirror is a beautiful art object that begins its life as a simple square of copper. A square, the size of the mirror is cut from this piece, and this, with a bezel between it is soldered together; thus creating a copper pocket for the mirror. After the frame is formed, the rim is enamelled and counter enamelled with multiple layers of vitreous enamel, a time-honoured process that fuses glass to copper at high temperatures, creating unique and lasting works of art. Finally, a beautiful copper bail is cold connected with a rivet to form the top piece.

More than just a mirror, this is a functional art piece designed to bring lasting beauty and conversation to your space.
